ADVANCED TREATMENT PLANNING - Level 3 (Hands on)

Description: “Refining the Mandibular Position”

Prerequisite Course: Levels 1 and 2

This course will combine what you have learned in the two previous courses (Fundamentals of Physiologic Occlusion and Diagnostic Principles) and will add an understanding how to establish the mandibular position and stabilize it with a lower anatomical orthosis. This course is designed to help the clinician understand the differences between various occlusal schemes of:

Cervical problems
Primary TMJ disorders
Class II, division 2 and
Anterior open bite conditions.

Different occlusal schemes and conditions require specific orthotic design parameters for each of these 4 types of neuromuscular occlusal problems. (These concepts have not been adequately addressed within classic NM teachings, leaving GAPS in understanding to the seeking student). Communicating an overall treatment plan to effectively manage the orthosis through its transitioning phases for each of these conditions from phase I stabilization stage to a phase II finalization stage is key to meet the clinical demands required to treat the stomatognathic neuromuscular system effectively.

During this 2 day hands on session the participants will build on the knowledge of K7 instrumentation that they have learned in Seminar Level 2 and will be introduced to advanced techniques necessary to establish a physiologic bite recording. Dentists will receive hands on instruction in the use of Jaw Tracking instrumentation and the use of TENS to locate and prove a bite repeatably. In addition the program will teach procedures and techniques to use in addition to instrumentation necessary for a dynamic relational study of the teeth and TM Joints. The objective is to help dentists become capable of making dependable, comprehensive, three-dimensional dentognathic diagnosis and manage these functional and aesthetic problems prior finalizing a treatment.

Understanding how to establish and communicate and overall game plan and treatment goals are crucial to any treatment prior to any comprehensive tooth preparation begins in order to avoid mishaps. Without these key principles and concepts the dentist will continue to experience costly occlusal challenges, instability and frustrations.

Help dentists become capable in making dependable, comprehensive, three-dimensional dentognathic diagnosis before treating functional and aesthetic problems.

Step by step instruction as to what to do and how to do it will be crucial to any treatment prior to any comprehensive tooth preparation in order to avoid mishaps.

Mounting the maxillary casts and mandibular casts physiologically
Implementing the lower anatomical NM orthosis for 4 different types of clinical problems - Cervical problems, Primary TMJ disorders, Class II div. 2 and anterior open bites

Introduction to Micro Occlusion (Coronoplasty) - Rules of adjusting the bite.

You Will Learn:

How to establish a proven physiologic bite
Receive hands on instruction in the use of Jaw Tracking instrumentation and the use of TENS to locate and prove a bite repeatably.
How to implement the K7-Jaw Tracking to optimize the bite.
How to resolve clicking and popping and how to interpret
computerized mandibular scanning (CMS) and electrosonographic data (ESG).
Procedures with electronic instrumentation to bring to light the dynamic relational study of the teeth, TM Joints and muscles.
How to clinically analyze the maxillo-mandibular casts relationships "PHYSIOLOGICALLY".
How to orient the maxillary cast for proper smile design and assessment with the lab
How to take a proper FOX Plane record
How to mount the maxillary cast using the OPI index
How to determine when not to equilibrate or adjust the occlusion
Specific records to communicate with the laboratory technician
Converting a NM bite economically
